Our Story

Many Christmases ago, Carol Aebersold embarked on a quest to harness her children’s festive enthusiasm during the holiday season by introducing an enchanting new idea—one that, for the first time, revealed what elves actually do for Santa Claus. This spark of inspiration would eventually become The Elf on the Shelf storybook and introduce a now-beloved tradition with never-before shared Christmas lore into the hearts of families everywhere.

Decades later, with grandchildren in the picture and her enterprising daughters as the forces behind the brand, her deep belief that every family deserves the magic of this cherished tradition, led to the birth of a company craftily engineered to bring holiday wonder into homes around the world.
